Player 15 Group includes several companies and many different departments that support the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, and NBA G League.

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Physical Therapist with the Health & Performance Department. This pivotal role will play a crucial role in optimizing the physical performance and well-being of our athletes. You will work closely with the coaching staff, athletes, and basketball operations team to reduce injuries, enhance recovery, and maximize their overall athletic potential. The ideal candidate will have a valid license as an athletic trainer, physical therapist, or chiropractor, along with experience working with athletes in team sports.

What Will You Do:

Work under the guidance of the Director of Medical Operations/Head Athletic Trainer to:

  • Injury Evaluation and Treatment: Conduct thorough evaluations of athletes' injuries and provide appropriate treatment plans based on evidence-based practices. Collaborate with the coaching staff, team physicians, other healthcare professionals and front office to ensure optimal care and timely return to play.
  • Rehabilitation: Design & implement rehabilitation plans for injured athletes, utilizing a combination of manual therapies, therapeutic exercises, and other modalities. Utilize data to monitor progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and provide ongoing support to facilitate successful recovery.
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement comprehensive injury risk management programs tailored to individual athletes. Conduct thorough assessments to identify potential risk factors and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Performance Enhancement: Identify areas of improvement in athletes' physical performance. Design and implement specialized training programs targeting strength, speed, agility, flexibility, and overall conditioning while considering sport-specific demands.
  • Education and Guidance: Educate athletes, coaches, and front office leadership group on injury risk reduction techniques, warm-up routines, post-workout recovery strategies, and overall sports performance principles. Provide guidance on optimized nutrition, hydration, sleep, and lifestyle factors that impact performance.
  • Travel: Travel with the team and implement strength and conditioning programs and support the Health & Performance Departments responsibilities on the road, at training camps and games. Periodically travel to visit players in the off-season to design and supervise training and support their Health & Performance needs.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with a wide variety of healthcare practitioners to ensure integrated and comprehensive care for athletes. Communicate effectively to share information, coordinate treatment plans, and facilitate a cohesive approach to athlete care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all evaluations, treatments, and progress of athletes. Adhere to legal and ethical standards of practice, including maintaining confidentiality of medical information.

Requirements:

The Physical Therapist must exhibit strong communication skills and have consistent track record of commanding and building relationships with high-level athletes in a professional team environment.

  • Valid license as an athletic trainer, physical therapist, or chiropractor.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Physical Therapist with Professional/Olympic/National Team level athletes. NBA experience is preferred.
  • Strong assessment and diagnostic skills to accurately evaluate and treat sports-related injuries.
  • Experience in developing and implementing injury risk reduction and performance enhancement programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics, as they relate to sports injuries and performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with athletes, coaches, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Experience utilizing athlete performance testing equipment and appropriate protocols including but not limited to isometric strength testing, force plates, video, and motion capture tools preferred.
  • Experience utilizing athlete management, program builder and sports science analysis software preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and a team player and a proven ability to work effectively as part of the Health & Performance Team.
  • Availability for a high volume of non-traditional work hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up to date with advancements in sports medicine and physical therapy.
  • CPR and first aid certification (required or willingness to obtain).

Experience/ Education Requirements:

  • Valid license as an athletic trainer, physical therapist, or chiropractor.
