Job Summary:
Performs custodial and maintenance duties in and around the center, troubleshoots maintenance issues, performs minor repairs, and works closely with staff to ensure that the center is in excellent condition meeting all health and safety requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- High-school diploma or equivalency
- Valid Driver’s License and be insurable under agency policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Custodial experience preferred
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Must provide three references.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical examination, and tuberculin skin test and update in accordance with program policy.
- Must pass all criminal record checks and update in accordance with program policy.
Competency:
- Must obtain and maintain certification in Bloodborne Pathogens training.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of children and families served.
Travel:
- Occasional night, weekend or overnight travel out of county and in county travel required
Work Environment:
- Extended hours may be required during critical workloads
- Indoor and outdoor activities
- May require working in extreme heat or extreme cold contingent on outside weather conditions
Physical demands:
- Requires standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 40 pounds
Essential Functions:
- Sweep and vacuum all floors on a daily basis.
- Clean and disinfect all sinks, toilets and mirrors on a daily basis.
- Empty all waste bins on a daily basis.
- Inspect the playground and surrounding area for safety hazards on a daily basis.
- Flush the backflow system on a weekly basis.
- Examine smoke detectors and emergency lighting, and maintain a record of inspections in accordance with program policies and procedures on a monthly basis.
- Wash windows on an as needed basis.
- Coordinate with teachers regarding the schedule for disinfecting classroom furniture.
- Report any needed repairs requiring additional assistance to the supervisor.
- Possess knowledge and familiarity of environmental safety guidelines and building and fire safety regulations.
- Provide minor maintenance as needed, e.g., raking, mulching, hedge trimming, sanding, painting, waxing, etc.
- Perform custodial duties as a substitute at all program centers as needed.
- Inventory custodial supplies and request orders
