Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Dental Hygiene Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate is one who is passionate about providing appropriate and exceptional dental care and treatment to both Native and non-Native patients within the serene area of Northern New Mexico. The ideal candidate will assist the dentist and/or dental hygienist effectively and efficiently in providing dental care to patients and to promote the medical center’s culture and mission and values; assists in planning and conducting community and health programs and assists with dental health presentations as part of Dental Outreach Programs. No nights or weekends!

Essential Functions:
- Assist hygienists during various dental procedures.
- Provide patients with post-operative care instructions.
- Manage patient records and schedule appointments.
- Uphold cleanliness and compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Performs weekly cleaning/maintenance of low/high volume suctions in operatory.
- Practices proper Infection Control/Safety precautions.
- Cleans, sterilizes, and maintains dental hygiene operatory, equipment and instruments utilizing proper sterilization and infection control practices.
- Assist during a variety of treatment procedures.
- Set up and breakdown operatory post treatment.
- Assists with Head Start staff to keep children updated with dental appointments.
- Collaborates with Public Health Department in several Outreach programs in community.
- Be responsible for following confidentiality procedures as outlined by HIPAA.
Qualifications:
- Certification from an accredited Dental Assistant program with one (1) year experience preferred.
- Alternatively, high school diploma or equivalent; or
- Currently enrolled in a dental assistant program with CNM;
- Obtain your radiology and safety certification within the required timeframe.
- X-Ray certification preferred; experience with CEREC, CBCT, and EMS Guided Biofilm Therapy is a plus.
- A current CPR & OSHA certification or required to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
- Familiarity with dental office procedures and patient management software is a plus.
- Experience with practice management and EMR software particularly AthenaOne is a plus.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $39.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 32 per week
