Genus PLC has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a Production Team Lead - 1st Shift to contribute both individually and as a team member—providing support to all team members and ensuring responsibilities are completed within production timelines. Operates production equipment for processing cell/sexing technology. Performs daily tasks as defined by production needs.
The position is located in our (Pepsi/Way) Lab, Windsor, WI. The Production Team Lead has primary accountability for assisting in leading team members while operating production equipment for most/all processing cell sexing technology. This includes performance coaching and development or team members, training of staff, and ensuring that production objectives are accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. Performs daily tasks as defined by production needs. Be a leader within the team.
This position is on 1st Shift and starting pay is $23.00/hr.

- Acts as frontline leader in the lab and is a first point of contact for lab technicians. Ensure normal, day-to-day operation of the lab.
- Follow SOP and maintain lab documentation, Provide accurate, timely and quality packaging of bovine semen in accordance with ABS standards.
- Be proficient in multiple processes throughout the production lab as business needs necessitate, such as, but not limited to: ALH, Centrifuge/tubes table, Sample making, washroom, Incoming quality control (IQC), batching, freeze, straw printing, IVOS, Tagging, Pouring.
- Required to be fully qualified either Cold Room/Media or both.
- Adhere to proper cleaning, sanitation and sterilization protocols for all processing and collection equipment.
- Uses good judgment to independently troubleshoot, initiate, recommend, and/or implement timely solutions to problems and communicate to appropriate personnel (leads, supervisors, manager, support group). Identifies problems, obstacles and opportunities and proactively acts to address issues.
- Contributes and supports the development and improvement of policies and standard Operating procedures based on business need.
- Follow safe work procedures and report observations and near misses
- Monitors inventory for day-to-day supplies as needed to maintain production requirements.
- Assists and coordinates training of lab technicians and provides training feedback lab manager.
- Coaches’ lab employees as needed included but not limited audits and quality checks, assessments and behaviors.
- Leads shift turnovers or huddles as needed.
- Completes administrative tasks and maintains documentation in the lab (i.e. Non-Conformances, SOP suggestions, data collection, reporting)
- Fill in for leadership as needed and self-manage work schedule and priorities to ensure that urgent customer requirements are addressed to optimize customer satisfaction
- Assist with other projects as assigned by supervisor.
- Communicates with other related departments to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed.
- Assist in scheduling of lab technicians as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must possess High School diploma or equivalent; Post-High School education or experience within a production laboratory setting is preferred.
- Ability to lift/transfer up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be proficient in lab processes.
- Must have completed the train-the-trainer program and be certified trainer in areas assigned.
- Strong attention to detail and focus on always maintaining the highest level of quality.
- Ability to perform basic math skills.
- Ability to use a computer, keyboard, and mouse to accomplish work tasks (including the ability to look at computer monitor screens for the entire assigned shift).
- Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time.
- Ability to work well within a team environment.
- Ability to maintain professional verbal and written communication with co-workers, internal and external customers, and vendors.

Working Conditions:
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Monitor equipment and computer for prolonged periods of time.
- Exposure to chemicals occasionally (PPE is provided)
