What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at Pinkham Tax & Accounting?
We are seeking a Payroll Specialist for our Maplewood, MN office. We are a small payroll company focused on small businesses in our area. As a payroll specialist, you will focus on running payrolls for our payroll clients and assisting with client onboarding.
This person have their own office and share responsibilities with another team member. Our payroll software is a hosted option, meaning you can access this software from anywhere. We are, however, looking for someone local to help support the community around us. We have been in business for almost 11 years and our staff retention is at 100%, with client retention not far behind. We appreciate our staff, pay well, and offer flexible work-life balance opportunities, like half-day Fridays during the summer.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with client onboarding
- Assist with year-end reporting requirements - 1099's and W2's
- Assist with quarterly payroll filing requirements
- Customer Service
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Passion for doing impactful work, accountability for actions, initiative (go-getter), professional, and integrity that places honesty and trust above all else.
- Proficient with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products.
- Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience at a payroll service company
- Reliable transportation
- Bachelor’s degree or working towards the achievement of a bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not required.
- Customer service experience a bonus
- Firm understanding of payroll taxes, payroll tax filings, and general knowledge on payroll deductions
- Ideal candidates have a Payroll Professional Certification or eager to work towards certification
