Summary:
The mortgage loan originator is responsible for developing new business, underwriting, structuring and the closing of mortgages, as well as maintaining and servicing an existing portfolio.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains successful relationships with business referral sources, existing and prospective.
- Prospects new mortgage lending opportunities.
- Meets with customers as necessary during various stages of the loan process.
- Meet with prospective borrowers.
- Determine borrower financing objectives and goals.
- Review / Analyze credit and financial data.
- Present appropriate mortgage loan products and programs and explain guidelines.
- Advise of pricing and lock rate as required.
- Identify appropriate opportunities to sell additional products.
- Collect supporting loan documentation as required and provides complete package to Mortgage Underwriter.
- Utilizes various training materials, reference tools and other resources to provide accurate and up-to-date loan program/policy information to both external customers and internal business partners.
- Provides complete loan applications to mortgage processors and underwriters.
- Ensures exceptional customer experience by overseeing loan process from origination to close and providing on-going communication to customers.
- Achieves production goals as established by the Bank.
- Ensures successful completion of all assigned Mortgage Loan Officer training.
Preferred Experience & Credentials:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting and/or Economics preferred.
- 5 years of mortgage lending experience preferred or related experience will be considered.
- Proven history of business development.
- Extreme familiarity with MS Suite of Products to include Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Personal motivation and attention to detail while working in a deadline driven environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely across multiple levels within the organization.
- Desire to have a long-term career in community banking.
