Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position that works on average 40 or more hours a week. Regularly scheduled days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Due to the group home environment, the person in this position must be able to work some nights, weekends, and holidays, based on the needs of the home.
Summary
The Residential Manager assumes oversight for the care, treatment, and development of residents in a licensed adult foster care home, or an unlicensed residential program. Essential Functions

Program Administration
- Ensure that residents are granted all rights and respect due them.
- Active participation in the person-centered process for all residents.
- Monitor the physical health of residents, ensure that physician orders and clinical team orders are implemented; assure that appropriate dietary standards and requirements are met.
- Monitor the implementation of person-centered plans. Create and maintain a comfortable, homelike environment.
- This position may occasionally be “hands on”, and the supervisor will need to complete the duties of direct care staff to assure the needs of the residents are met as required.
- Maintain a working knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by Pioneer Resources, The Department of Health and Human Services, HealthWest, CARF, and other regulatory bodies, including HUD, of applicable, and assure that the home is operated in accordance with same.
- Monitor the group home budget.
- Perform administrative functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the home.
- Ensure the home is maintained with a high level of cleanliness and safety, including requesting necessary home and vehicle maintenance.
- Work cooperatively with case managers and clinical personnel to assure residents are treated with dignity and that the plans of service reflect individual preferences and sound judgment.
Personnel Management
- Hire, schedule, supervise, mentor and evaluate support staff who work in the group home.
- Make sure all personnel have appropriate credentials and training.
- Develop opportunities for in-service training and skill enhancement.
- Assure that employees follow safety practices and agency policies and procedures.
- Conduct staff meetings as needed and lead a team effort to assure safety and quality.

Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of four years of experience working directly with people with developmental disabilities or an Associate’s degree and two years of experience may be substituted.
- Two years of previous experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Computer skills including the use of email, word processing and spreadsheets.
- The ability to read and write English, and the ability to comprehend written instructions and record information.
- The capacity to work both independently and in a team, with intermittent supervision.
- The ability to work respectfully and courteously with a wide variety of individuals.
- This employee will be required to successfully complete all required initial and update trainings.
- This position requires driving. Individuals must have a valid Michigan driver’s license with three (3) or more years of driving experience, less than six (6) points, and no exclusionary violations on driving record.
Note: This position is required to pass all background checks, physicals, and drug screens. If the background check reveals disqualifying information, employment shall be terminated unless the disqualifying information was successfully appealed as inaccurate, expunged or set aside.
Travel Requirements
Up to 25%
A company vehicle is not supplied. Personal vehicle is required.
Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Work Environment
This position works in close proximity to people. While the majority of working time is spent indoors in a residential environment or office, employees in this position may work outdoors in all seasons for short periods of time, e.g. assisting a resident into a vehicle, taking a resident on an outing, snow removal, etc.
Physical Demands
Light work. No more than 20 pounds with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Work is mostly sedentary, but may require physical assistance with the persons served. Lifting, bending, pulling, pushing of objects may be required.
