The Kelce Undergraduate School of Business at Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for an Assistant Instructional Professor of Accounting & Finance, a position which is renewable on an annual basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach beginning and intermediate level accounting, finance, and possibly also economics, analytics, or other business courses as needed at the undergraduate level with a twelve-credit-hour load per semester.
- Additional teaching opportunities may be available during the summer term.
- Participate in University service, including committee work and other academic responsibilities.
- Provide student mentoring to support academic and career development.
- Make contributions to academic engagement through research, scholarship, consulting services, certifications, and other initiatives.
- Assist in recruitment efforts to attract prospective students to the program.
- Serve as faculty advisor for student organization(s) to foster student involvement and professional development.
- Hold professional certifications in accounting or finance (such as CPA, CIA, CMA, CFA) and otherwise maintain faculty qualification consistent with the standards of an AACSB-accredited institution.
Education and Experience
Required Education and Experience – Time of Hire
- Graduate degree in business, accounting, or finance (MBA, MPA, MPAcc or other closely related field) from accredited school with anticipated completion by July 2025.
Preferred Education and Experience –
- Full-time employment in industry, business, government, or education with professional experience for 4 years. Work experience should be related to accounting or finance, with managerial and executive level responsibilities.
- Maintain certification in accounting (CPA) and/or finance (CFA).
- Teaching experience and a record of scholarly work are highly desired.
- Membership(s) in regional, state, or national associations related to the teaching of finance and accounting are desired.
