Job Overview
We are a growing General Contracting Company located in North Jersey, seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to join our growing team. Construction experience is a plus. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles. This role requires a solid understanding of debits and credits, as well as proficiency in accounting software. The Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in supporting the financial health of our organization through meticulous record-keeping and analysis.
This is a flexible role, and can be modified to be full time, with added administrative responsibilities for the right fit.
Responsibilities
- Client Invoicing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable Functions.
- Monthly credit card and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial statements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Perform general ledger accounting tasks, including journal entries and account analysis.
- Prepare reports for management review.
- Manage payroll.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) in all accounting practices.
- Assist in tax preparation and filing processes as required.
- Perform general ledger reconciliation to verify the accuracy of financial data.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information for reporting purposes.
Skills
- Strong understanding of debits and credits, with the ability to apply this knowledge effectively.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks) for efficient record management and reporting.
- Experience in account analysis to identify discrepancies or trends in financial data.
- Knowledge of general ledger accounting practices and procedures.
- Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to function in a team environment.
- Competence in bank reconciliation processes to maintain accurate cash flow records.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all financial documentation.
- Construction bookkeeping experience is preferred.
