FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
Reporting into the Director of Finance, this individual leads month end and quarterly closes. The Financial Controller will manage the full cycle accounting group and ensure proper processes and procedures are in place.
WHAT'S ON YOUR PLATE:
Financial Reporting
- Managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including A/P, Canadian and US financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with Canadian and US accounting standards, regulations, internal financial controls, and tax reporting
- Coordinate monthly closings and all related tasks
- Accountability for the completeness and accuracy of the financial statements
- Ensure full compliance to accounting policies and help to enforce proper controls.
- Manage all aspect of the year end audit
- Provide leadership to the A/P and financial reporting team
Business Partnering and Support
- Work with Operations, business partners and leadership on providing diligent and accurate knowledge of financial management matters.
- Provide the leadership team real time analytics
Continuous Process Improvement
- Drive continuous improvements in finance and accounting areas (e.g., streamline processes to accelerate reporting timelines, enhance performance, and reduce manual workflow)
- Work with the Director of Finance on the strategic vision including fostering and cultivating stakeholder relationships
- Participate in developing new business: budgeting, cost analysis.
- Support special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests, and other tasks as assigned
INGREDIENTS YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE:
- Bachelor Degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance is a must
- Complete or near completion of CPA
- Minimum 4 years experience in related position is required
- Good understanding of the tax compliance and regulatory reporting for Canadian and US entities
- Strong leadership skills and experience in hospitality and related industry is preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and tight deadlines
- Strong analytical skills, keen attention to detail with excellent time management skills
- Self-starter who takes initiative and is solution oriented
- Ability to work under pressure and meet various deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Passionate about creating efficiencies and automating workflows
- Tech savvy and ability to pick up new platforms and software quickly, proficient in MS office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization
- Strong analytical skills, keen attention to detail with excellent time management skills
