Senior Planning Manager - Life Science & Industrial Manufacturing Projects

We are seeking to appoint a full-time, talented Senior Planning Manager to support major capital projects in the Life Sciences and Industrial Manufacturing sectors. In this pivotal role, you will lead the strategic delivery and client relationship management of major projects, overseeing scheduling, governance, and risk analysis to ensure the successful implementation of complex, high-impact plans from inception to completion.

Responsibilities

Strategic Project Leadership : Oversee the execution of major life science and industrial manufacturing projects, providing strategic direction to ensure alignment with client objectives and project goals. Monitor progress and drive successful delivery of key assignments.

Client Relationship Management : Act as the primary liaison with senior client stakeholders, managing relationships to effectively translate client goals into actionable plans and ensuring strong governance to meet project milestones and strategic priorities.

Scheduling & Planning Expertise : Develop and manage detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, ensuring alignment with client procedures. Create comprehensive master schedules, incorporating all phases of project delivery, including level 5 commissioning, validation, and qualification. Collect and integrate schedule-related data from vendors, suppliers, engineering teams, and construction contractors into the planning and scheduling systems to ensure accurate and up-to-date project tracking.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting : Provide consistent progress updates, prepare and update client reports, including detailed analysis of project schedules, critical path assessments, and identification of any potential delays, proposing corrective actions as necessary.

Risk & Schedule Analysis : Conduct thorough schedule analysis, including critical path and risk assessments, to identify potential issues or delays. Provide ongoing monitoring of project timelines, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and advise on adjustments to maintain schedule integrity.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree (MS or MBA preferred) and achieved professional qualification.
• Membership in APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE, AACE, IRM, IEMA or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
• Demonstrated experience working in a Planning and Scheduling position for engineering, procurement, and construction projects is essential.
• Successfully delivered complex, large-scale construction projects in Life Sciences, Manufacturing or Industrial projects including commissioning and validation activities.
• Awareness of current methodologies and tools to manage / analyze develop planning / schedule information related to projects (MS Excel, MS Project and Primavera P6).
• Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications and construction contracting.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
• Ability to review and understand engineering, procurement and construction schedule logic.
• Capable of producing logic-driven schedules from limited project information a conceptual schedule from initiation through to closeout; identify major phases through that timeline and be able to determine and discuss dependencies.
• Knowledge of system start-up sequences and major dependencies.
• Skilled in Primavera (P6) to create master schedules with key milestones; create detailed commissioning, validation and qualification schedules; resource loading of the schedules and producing management overview of over and underutilization effectively; able to produce high level and 1, 3, 6 month look ahead from P6 for reporting; identify and trending movement to key float paths and baselines.
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative in engaging with colleagues, clients and key stakeholders.
