Position Overview:
This is a hands-on manager position responsible for managing all aspects of employee benefit plans and programs including third-party vendor and insurance carrier management, compliance, project management, strategic planning and design and communication. The position provides analysis of all employee-benefit programs in order to evaluate internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance of PLS’s benefit practices. This individual will oversee the design, management, and implementation of the PLS Health & Welfare Plan and 401(k) Plan. Also responsible for recommending plan design and program changes to drive employee engagement and retention and help improve employee physical and financial well-being in a cost-effective manner.
This position reports to the Senior Director of Human Resources and will manage one employee. Scope of accountability includes all benefit programs covering approximately 3,400 employees of PLS located throughout the United States.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day management and administration of all employee-benefit programs including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, Section 125 plan, disability plans, 401(k), COBRA, and leave of absence policies
- Provide financial analysis, reporting and plan design, in conjunction with both internal and external resources
- Design and develop employee-benefit policies and programs for both self-funded and fully insured plans
- Partner with and manage third-party vendors, insurance carriers, and internal stakeholders to develop and administer strong end-to-end employee-benefits delivery processes.
- Manage and/or prepare government filings, health & welfare plan and retirement plan audits, and other tax-reporting requirements as necessary
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements (including ERISA, COBRA, Affordable Care Act, etc.) and plan related documents and filings, in collaboration with company attorneys
- Direct the annual renewal and Open Enrollment process, including leading and testing UltiPro changes and the preparation of employee communications
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- A combination of 10 – 15 plus years of hands-on employee-benefits, compensation, human resources, third-party vendor and insurance carrier management, and people-management experience ideally from a multi-location service, retail, hospitality or restaurant environment with a geographically dispersed employee population where the majority of employees are non-exempt workers strongly preferred
- Previous experience in the design and administration of health and welfare and retirement plans. Experience working within a fully insured and self-funded environment along with strong proven expertise in developing innovative and progressive employee-benefit programs
- Demonstrated experience in management of third-party vendors and insurance carriers to run employee-benefit programs in a cost effective and employee-accessible fashion
- Strong technical competencies with HR Management Systems, preferably UltiPro and third-party vendor and insurance carrier systems to understand their interfaces and prepare regular and ad hoc reports
- Financial and analytical business acumen required
- Understanding of health and welfare plan and retirement plan compliance with all federal laws (including ERISA, COBRA, and the Affordable Care Act, etc.) as well as all applicable state and local regulationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills
- Lead compensation analysis
- Strong interpersonal relationship and communication (both verbal and written) skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment at all levels at the support center and field
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift 15 lbs.
