Under the supervision of the Company’s CFO, The Senior Manager of Payroll and Benefits oversees all aspects of payroll and benefits administration in a multi-state, multi-legal entity environment of apprx 400 employees. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, implementing efficient payroll and benefits processes, and providing strategic direction to the payroll team. Leading a team of two payroll employees, the Senior Manager will drive accuracy, compliance, and employee satisfaction in payroll and benefits functions.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Management
- Oversee and manage payroll operations for multi-state, multi-legal entity payrolls, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Supervise and mentor two payroll employees, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including proper calculation of taxes, benefits deductions, and garnishments.
- Manage payroll processing cycles, including year-end activities (e.g., W-2, tax filings & tax agency issues).
- Ensure payroll-related data is accurate, complete, and current.
- Basic understanding of accounting practices and terms—this position will work closely with the different entities’ finance departments.
- Work closely with finance & tax teams, human resources, and legal teams in the US & Canada.
- Ensure that payroll processes are aligned with the company’s goals and policies
- Stay current with changes in payroll & benefit laws, state and city regulations / ordinances, and best practices, and implement any necessary changes to policies and procedures.
- Prepare and present ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll-related reports and analyses as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve payroll discrepancies / errors.

Salary for this role is $120,000-140,000 USD annually depending on experience.
