The National Book Foundation (NBF), presenter of the National Book Awards, is seeking a full-time Communications Coordinator to join our small and dynamic team. The Communications Coordinator position reports to the Senior Manager of Marketing & Communications, to support NBF’s year-round marketing and communications activities across Awards and honors, education and public programs, and development and fundraising efforts. This role will provide essential support on social media and email marketing, branding and design projects, press and media outreach, and additional administrative responsibilities to help continue to grow and engage the Foundation’s national and global audience of readers.
The ideal start date for this position is March 2025. This is a full-time position based in New York City and operates on a flexible hybrid in-office / remote schedule. Some evening and weekend work is required.

Salary is $54,000-58,000 depending on experience.
This is a full-time position based in New York City with a two day per week in-office requirement through the four-month probationary period. After the probationary period, there is a flexible in-office/remote hybrid schedule.
NBF’s benefits package includes health and dental insurance with employer covered premiums at 90%, as well as vision, Short-Term & Long-Term Disability, and Paid Family Leave benefits. After one year of employment, NBF matches a 6% maximum of the employee’s 403(b) contribution. NBF provides 22 days paid time off per year, in addition to observing holidays, Summer Fridays and closing the office between Christmas Day and New Years Day.

Responsibilities
Communications and Administrative Support
- Support Senior Manager of Marketing with all communications pipelines by managing deadlines, fact checking, copyediting, and coordinating assets and necessary approvals
- Draft internal and external communications, including but not limited to team updates, press releases, announcements, newsletters, and physical and digital branded materials
- Maintain an up-to-date media list, and support on press inquiries and coverage regarding the National Book Awards as well as the Foundation’s educational and public programs
- Grow relationships with media, bookfluencers, and other external collaborators
- Provide event production support for NBF events, specifically to audio/visual vendors
- Work closely with the Senior Manager of Marketing & Communications to develop and execute email marketing and social media campaigns, including research and drafting compelling original content, graphics, and video
- Maintain the Foundation’s social media and email marketing calendar under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Marketing & Communications
- Measure, analyze, and report campaign performance using KPIs such as traffic, conversion rates, and more to optimize marketing campaigns and announcements
- Monitor, track, and report relevant press hits
- Manage the collection and review of relevant assets and press approvals with publishing and author teams
- Manage asset and design needs with outsourced design teams by providing accurate copy, image assets, reviewing, and compiling staff feedback
- Support the production of an annual promotional video by coordinating with interviewees, reviewing transcripts, and compiling photos from NBF archives
- Extremely organized, communicative, detail-oriented, proactive, and deadline-conscious, with an ability to balance multiple and overlapping project timelines
- Creative with an eye for design and organizational branding, with the ability to collaborate effectively with designers on visual projects
- Excellent oral and written communications skills with an ability to tailor messaging for internal and external audiences; copyediting experience is a strong plus
- Experience in social media management and content creation with knowledge of platforms including X, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, and Facebook
- Digitally savvy with knowledge of trends, best practices, and content promotion in relation to the Foundation’s online presence
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Mac OS, Zoom, and Slack is required
- Familiarity with any of the following is a strong plus: Asana/Trello, WordPress, Mailchimp (or similar), Salesforce, and Adobe Creative Suite
- 2-3 years of related experience is preferred
