Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced detail-oriented and skilled Cable Mapping Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for mapping and documenting the layout of cable systems and network infrastructure for various clients. This role involves working with a variety of cable types, including fiber optics, coaxial, and electrical cables, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting of all cable installations and configurations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform cable mapping tasks, identifying and labeling cables, conduits, and pathways for easy identification and future maintenance.
- Document cable routes, distances, and connections in both physical and digital formats.
- Collaborate with installation teams to ensure cables are routed correctly and according to design plans.
- Use specialized software and tools to create and update cable maps and schematics.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cable installations, ensuring accurate mapping and labeling.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and quality assurance guidelines.
- Update and maintain accurate records of cable systems, including technical documentation and network maps.
- Provide support for clients during installations and post-installation service, ensuring clarity in cable layout documentation.
- Conduct site surveys to assess and verify existing cable installations.
- Assist in cable testing and validation as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or an associate's degree in a relevant field (e.g., telecommunications, electrical engineering) is preferred.
- Proven experience as a cable mapping technician or in a similar role (1-3 years preferred).
- Knowledge of cable types, installation techniques, and network infrastructure.
- Familiarity with cable mapping software and tools (e.g., CAD, Visio, or specialized telecom mapping software).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately document and report information.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve technical issues quickly.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to work in various environments, including outdoor sites and confined spaces.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations in the telecom or electrical industry.
