What are the responsibilities and job description for the Step-On Guide - Oahu position at Polynesian Adventure Tours Inc?
We are seeking energetic, positive, outgoing Step-On Guides/Narrator Ambassadors who present interesting and factual information about Hawaii's history, language, culture, and significant sites. Ensure a positive and memorable experience for the clients while providing a high level of customer service.
Essential Duties:
- Greet passengers and clients and assist those with special needs or requests.
- Load passengers onto the bus by following established safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of PAX count, arrival time, and baggage counts.
- Maintain constant communication with Drivers and Base Dispatch on any changes and/or discrepancies to the schedule, arrival, etc.
- Requires knowledge of Hawaii's history, language, culture, significant sites, local area’s roads, and landmarks.
- Requires verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Present tour narration relevant and appropriate to tour routing.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Report all required information to Dispatch in a timely matter.
- Review motorcoach safety protocols with guests
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Dispatch Supervisor or Station Manager.
- Must always be in uniform as per the Employee Handbook
- OTHER: Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
- One (1) year of customer service or hospitality experience required; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position. Experience in a fast-paced work environment is preferred.
Knowledge, and Skills Required:
- Customer service duties require relating to employees and customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Requires knowledge of principles and processes for safety, ethics, and compliance with company rules & regulations.
- Ability to recognize and define problem areas, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to use good judgment and decision-making while handling multiple situations.
- Physical demands of working in the field require frequent sitting and speaking. Additional duties may occasionally require lifting objects that weigh up to 50 lbs.
