JOB DESCRIPTION: The Jacks Monterey Bartenders are responsible for serving food and beverages to guests in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner while adhering to all health regulations and local liquor laws. Ensures exceptional guest service and creates an inviting atmosphere. Follows Portola Hotel and Spas brand standards of quality to ensure guest satisfaction.
THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS OF THIS JOB ARE:
Responsible for serving drinks to guests following standard recipes, policies and procedures
Responsible for serving guests while complying with a sequence of customer service standards to positively impact the guests experience
Ability to assume a pleasant and helpful attitude towards guests and fellow staff members
Recommend certain dishes, identify ingredients and explain how various items on the menu are prepared
Responsible for completing an accurate opening and closing inventory of product
Assure that all equipment is operable and clean
Responsible for arranging bottles to make and maintain an attractive display behind the bar
Responsible for checking identification of guests in order to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
Maintain cleanliness of bar and lobby tables utilizing sanitation procedures
Responsible for recognizing guests that are visibly intoxicated and taking action to cut off alcohol to such individuals
Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas
Responsible for computing the cost of the meal and presenting the guest with the check; Accept payments and provide change as necessary
Comply with the Companys standards of conduct
Complete food and beverage knowledge and be able to communicate in detail to guests

EDUCATIONAL / CERTIFICATION / LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent Required
California Food Handlers / ServSafe and Certification Required
State approved RSB Certification Alcohol management - Required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to solve problems quickly.
Basic computer and phone skills.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCED REQUIRED:
Minimum 6-months of Food & Beverage experience required; hospitality experience preferred.
