JOB SUMMARY: Provide on-site and offsite brief HIV pre/post-test counseling and rapid HIV testing in a confidential, one-on-one session with clients while maintaining the pre-counseling protocol of no more than 10 minutes on average for the session.

Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts HIV Counseling (CTL) sessions in a non-judgmental manner and with fidelity to the core elements and core components of the HIV Prevention Counseling standards.
- Assist with follow-up to ensure that persons diagnosed as living with HIV are successful linked to care and partner services.
- Provide effective condom education. Distribute condoms to target HIV-infected persons and persons at highest risk of acquiring HIV.
- Provides education on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and ensures persons eligible for PrEP if interested are linked to PrEP services to include Agency intake paperwork.
- Be able to answer general questions about PrEP for both agency staff and for clients, attend community events to promote PrEP, and assist with PrEP marketing strategies.
- Assist the Senior Prevention Program Manager and Director of Prevention with preparations for site visits/chart audits by funders.
- Abides by all state and federal policies regarding confidentiality of patient information.
- Ability to communicate in a multi-cultural setting
- Ability to be a self starter
- Knowledge of HIV/STIs, PrEP, PEP, DoxyPrEP/PEP
- Ability to speak Spanish is preferred, but is not required
Additional Duties
- Network with other agencies, funders, and others to promote Positive Impact Health Center’s HIV Prevention services.
- Participate in monthly agency staff meetings, monthly departmental meetings and occasional health education trainings.
- Remain current on HIV/AIDS issues and on PrEP and how it is implemented across the country.
- This position will require working some evenings and weekends based on weekly schedule as provided by program manager.
- Leads and/or supports the organization of special events as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a multi-cultural setting including target populations, volunteers, agency staff and Board of Directors.

- Utilizes good management techniques.

- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet database and presentation software.
- Abides by all policies and procedures concerning personnel including conflict of interest policy.
- Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, knowledge of the target population and past direct experience with people living with HIV/AIDS a plus.
- Due to the nature of work, the applicant is required to pass a police background check and drug screening.
