JOB SUMMARY: Provide on-site and offsite brief HIV pre/post-test counseling and rapid HIV testing in a confidential, one-on-one session with clients while maintaining the pre-counseling protocol of no more than 10 minutes on average for the session.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Conducts HIV Counseling (CTL) sessions in a non-judgmental manner and with fidelity to the core elements and core components of the HIV Prevention Counseling standards.
2. Assist with follow-up to ensure that persons diagnosed as living with HIV are successful linked to care and partner services.
3. Provide effective condom education. Distribute condoms to target HIV-infected persons and persons at highest risk of acquiring HIV.
4. Provides education on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and ensures persons eligible for PrEP if interested are linked to PrEP services to include Agency intake paperwork.
5. Be able to answer general questions about PrEP for both agency staff and for clients, attend community events to promote PrEP, and assist with PrEP marketing strategies.
6. Assist the Senior Prevention Program Manager and Director of Prevention with preparations for site visits/chart audits by funders.
7. Abides by all state and federal policies regarding confidentiality of patient information. 
8. Ability to communicate in a multi-cultural setting 
9. Ability to be a self starter
10. Knowledge of HIV/STIs, PrEP, PEP, DoxyPrEP/PEP 
11. Ability to speak Spanish is preferred, but is not required 

Additional Duties

1. Network with other agencies, funders, and others to promote Positive Impact Health Center’s HIV Prevention services.
2. Participate in monthly agency staff meetings, monthly departmental meetings and occasional health education trainings.
3. Remain current on HIV/AIDS issues and on PrEP and how it is implemented across the country.
4. This position will require working some evenings and weekends based on weekly schedule as provided by program manager.
5. Leads and/or supports the organization of special events as assigned.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

6. Ability to work without close supervision.
7. Utilizes good management techniques.
8. Follows through to completion of assigned tasks.
9. Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet database and presentation software.
10. Abides by all policies and procedures concerning personnel including conflict of interest policy.
11. Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, knowledge of the target population and past direct experience with people living with HIV/AIDS a plus.
12. Due to the nature of work, the applicant is required to pass a police background check and drug screening.
