This position oversees all resort-related financial operations, including reporting, compliance, and internal controls, while driving efficiency and transparency across accounting processes. Requirements
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal policies.
- Manage the resort piece of financial audits.
- Prepare detailed financial reports and present key insights to senior leadership.
- Develop and monitor key financial metrics for resort operations.
- Lead the annual budgeting process for the resort and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop financial forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
- Analyze financial trends and variances, providing recommendations for cost efficiencies.
- Work closely with department heads to track and manage budgets effectively.
- Oversee cash flow management and ensure liquidity for resort operations.
- Manage revenue recognition and ensure accurate accounting for resort activities, including ticket sales, memberships, food & beverage, and other revenue streams.
- Collaborate with operations teams to optimize revenue and control costs.
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial regulations.
- Continuously evaluate and improve accounting policies and procedures.
- Oversee resort tax filings, property tax assessments, and other regulatory reporting.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the resort accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Collaborate with the Real Estate & Development Financial Director, as well as the shared service team members of the finance department.
- Establish performance goals and conduct regular performance evaluations.
- Provide training and support to ensure team members stay current with accounting best practices and technologies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to support financial initiatives.
- Oversee financial systems and software, ensuring efficient and accurate data management.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements in financial operations.
- Work closely with IT and other departments to optimize financial reporting tools and systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in the ski resort or private ski club industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and best practices.
- Proficiency in financial software including managing integrations, Sage Intacct, ERP systems, and Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons or financial reporting periods.
- Must be able to navigate the resort environment, including ski areas and mountain terrain, as needed.
- Mostly indoors with occasional need to be outdoors on-site.
