Legal And Compliance Department Description
The key objectives of PPM’s Legal and Compliance Department are to support its business partners in furtherance of their client needs and to advance PPM’s strategic objectives, in each case by providing accurate and timely advice and guidance, and managing risk through effective governance, monitoring and reporting procedures. Led by PPM’s Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel, the team fosters a collaborative and creative approach to solving legal and regulatory issues while ensuring that service for PPM’s clients reflects the highest ethical and legal standards.
Compliance Team Description
The Compliance Team advises and educates its business partners to promote compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies by working in close collaboration with each business area to develop and implement the firm’s policies and procedures. The Compliance Team’s primary responsibilities include:
The Compliance Officer is a member of the PPM Legal and Compliance team. The Compliance Officer is primarily responsible for execution of compliance monitoring activities, compliance review of marketing materials, preparing internal and client reports, drafting policies, and preparing regulatory filings. The Compliance Officer is expected to work collaboratively with legal, business, and operations colleagues across all levels of the organization to support the effective development and implementation of PPM's compliance program. The Compliance Officer also serves as a compliance subject matter expert and, under the direction of the CCO, is expected to support achievement of PPM's strategic business objectives by providing timely and effective compliance advice to PPM's business teams.
Essential Responsibilities
Base Pay
$75,000.00 - $90,000.00. The base salary for this position may vary depending on experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities. In addition to the base salary, this role will be eligible to participate in our annual bonus program. This role will also be eligible for compensated personal time off and holidays, health benefits, 401(k) plan with generous matching and profit sharing contributions, and other benefit programs according to the Company's employment policies and subject to the formal terms of such plans and programs.

- Drafting and implementing the firm’s compliance policies and procedures
- Conducting risk assessments and risk-based reviews to design and develop effective compliance testing
- Identifying and managing conflicts of interest, including employee personal trading
- Performing routine compliance monitoring and pre- and post-trade investment guideline monitoring
The Compliance Officer is a member of the PPM Legal and Compliance team. Essential Responsibilities
- Executes monitoring procedures to ensure compliance with policies and procedures related to client trading, employee personal trading, employee political contributions, gifts and business entertainment, conflicts of interest, proxy voting, and information barriers.
- Executes monitoring procedures and prepares reporting on financial crime risk areas, including economic sanctions, anti-money laundering, anti-bribery, and fraud.
- Codes and monitors client portfolio investment guidelines using the Aladdin© system. Works with compliance colleagues, the trading team, and portfolio managers to resolve pre and post trade alerts in a timely manner.
- Serves as primary compliance reviewer of presentations, RFPs, Client DDQs, and other marketing materials to ensure compliance with the Investment Adviser’s Act Marketing Rule.
- Drafts and reviews compliance policies and procedures. Identifies, tracks, and assesses new regulations and rule proposals to ensure effective implementation of necessary policy and procedure changes and ongoing compliance.
- Prepares and completes various regulatory filings, including Form ADV, Form PF, Form 13F, and US Treasury filings.
- Prepares compliance reports for management and governance committees.
- Prepares and distributes client compliance reporting and compliance checklists.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for assigned compliance risk areas, assisting the CCO and other team leaders in the identification and assessment of compliance and regulatory risks to support the ongoing development and execution of PPM’s compliance program.
- Serves as a trusted business partner by providing timely and accurate advice to portfolio management, trading, operations, marketing, distribution, and client service teams.
- Prepares and presents compliance training to all levels of PPM associates.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Demonstrated proficiency in investment management regulation and compliance, including knowledge of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, Investment Company Act of 1940, ERISA, FINRA Rules, and other securities related rules and regulations required.
- Team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively and in a professional manner with colleagues and leaders across PPM, as well as external parties such as clients, potential clients, regulators, and service providers.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with ability to simultaneously and efficiently manage multiple projects.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, research, and time management skills.
- Familiarity with multiple asset classes and product offerings is helpful. PPM’s strategies include public fixed income, private finance (including bank loans and private placements), private equity, and public and private asset-backed securities (including CLOs, distressed debt, emerging markets debt, and commercial real estate) required.
- Familiarity with onboarding and servicing institutional investment management clients and/or fund investors is helpful.
- Technology skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Python, or other data visualization tools and programming languages will be viewed positively.
- Familiarity with third-party compliance software used by institutional investment managers is preferred. Specific experience with Aladdin© Workbench/Dashboard, JIRA, Seismic, MyCompliance Office, FinScan, Bloomberg, SyndTrak, DebtDomain, or Intralinks is helpful.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- 3 years of experience in compliance, audit, or risk management in a financial services organization, preferably with an institutional investment manager, required.
Base Pay
