About the Role:
We’re hiring one dedicated in-person tutor to provide small-group math and ELA instruction for Spanish-speaking students at PS 14 Fairview. The role will focus on push-in support, working alongside teachers to replicate the role of a teacher’s assistant in grades 3-5, with a possibility of supporting one 1st-grade class. You’ll help students succeed academically in various classroom settings, including general education, ICT, and self-contained special education classrooms. Additionally, you’ll assist in the afterschool program, supporting small-group learning.
As part of the role, you may also be asked to assist with school-wide testing days. Responsibilities during these days may include delivering testing supplies to classrooms, data entry, and providing logistical support. Additionally, there will be occasional opportunities to assist with parent outreach calls as needed.

What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to deliver targeted, culturally responsive academic support in both ELA and math
- Provide push-in support in classrooms, replicating the role of a teacher’s assistant
- Work primarily with grades 3-5 and possibly one 1st-grade class, assisting students in various classroom settings (general education, ICT, self-contained special education)
- Accompany students to the afterschool program and facilitate small-group learning sessions
- Create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for students
- Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
- Time: 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Duration: February 25th, 2025 – June 12th, 2025 (excluding holidays and school closures)
- Key Dates Off:
- March 6th: Elementary Parent-Teacher Conferences – Early Dismissal
- April 14th – April 18th: Spring Recess
- June 5th: Anniversary Day
- Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching elementary school level math and ELA
- Bilingual Skills: Fluent in English and Spanish, with the ability to provide academic support in both languages
- Team Player: Collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences
- Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students
- Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently
