Praesto, LLC is looking for a experienced Window Covering Engineer – Hardware Design with Knowledge on Textiles
This role will combine expertise in mechanical systems and hardware design with a deep understanding of textile materials to create innovative, functional, and efficient textile-based products, particularly in the window covering industry. This role is key in designing, testing, and improving innovative window covering solutions for residential and commercial applications working on cutting-edge projects that combine engineering with fabric-based designs.
The Window Covering Engineer is meticulous and responsible for mechanical design and developing hardware solutions that integrate seamlessly with textile materials, ensuring mechanical performance, aesthetic appeal and designs that will shape the future of textile-based products and window covering solutions.
Some Responsibilities:
- Design and develop hardware components and systems used in textile-based products, such as window coverings, shades, and blinds, focusing on functionality, reliability, and ease of use.
- Work closely with other engineers and sales teams to integrate mechanical systems i.e., motors, control mechanisms, actuators with fabric-based materials to achieve desired product performance.
- Develop prototypes and test new and innovative designs to ensure mechanical systems work harmoniously with textile properties, optimizing durability, ease of installation, and user experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing teams, product development, sales teams, and research and development (R&D) to ensure seamless integration of hardware and textiles in final products.
- Create detailed Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models, 3D Model Software (e.g., Creo E, UG, Solidworks) and technical drawings for hardware components, ensuring precision in manufacturing and ease of assembly.
- Research new materials and technologies to innovate and improve hardware design, ensuring quality and high performance in a variety of textile applications.
- Conduct mechanical and functional testing of hardware systems, identifying areas for improvement and making adjustments to optimize performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain thorough documentation of hardware design specifications, testing results, and revisions for ongoing development and production support.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations in the design and implementation of hardware systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Textile Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in hardware design, with a focus on window covering solutions, or similar industries.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, motors, actuators, and control systems, particularly in applications involving textiles.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), 3D Model Software (e.g., Creo E, UG, Solidworks) , for designing hardware components and systems.
- Familiarity with textile materials, fabric properties, and their integration with hardware components.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to design innovative solutions to complex mechanical challenges.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including prototyping, testing, and mass production techniques.
- Preferred experience working with motorized window coverings or similar textile-based consumer products.
- Knowledge of product lifecycle management and design for manufacturability (DFM).
