About You
As a VP, Group Account Director, you will be responsible for managing and growing multimillion-dollar book of business and for management of associated account team(s). Set team direction; ensure the team has necessary resources, and facilitate individual team member’s growth.
Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
Managerial
- Oversee and direct the work of department staff. Ensure individual team members are improving, developing and advancing in their careers.
Strategic Consultation
- Provide solid insights into the strategic development process to internal and external teams
- Expert in one or more industry segments
- Has or develop deep familiarity with client’s market, including disease state, treating clinicians
- and influencers and their corresponding professional societies, competitive companies and
- technologies, and current and future state of treatment
- Consistently is a go-to person for business insights
- Understand product, category, and competition to easily jump into any strategic discussion
- Draw upon analogs across the agency to share best practices/ideas
- Identify inline opportunities for sister companies
Client Relationship
- Develop working relationships with director-level client partners as well as core brand team
- Touch base with senior-level clients regularly to ferret out any opportunities or issues early
- Demonstrate ability to pick up the phone and talk to any level of client at any time regardless
- of daily interactions
- Develop and maintain senior-level relationships at agency-of-record account(s)
- Provide leadership in difficult and challenging circumstances and create an environment for honest
- conversations, business growth and issues mitigation
- May be called upon to step in (on an ad hoc basis) to assist with certain situations on another
- account(s)
Agency Advocate
- Support and represent the agency’s point of view at the highest levels of the client organization
- Team Management
- Demonstrate mastery of more junior account responsibilities and can comfortably provide training,
- coverage, and/or oversight as needed
- Lead multiple account teams and provide guidance/mentorship to them and others in the office
- (irrespective of department)
- Motivate and mentor account team to remain positive and push the boundaries and models

- Communicate clear goals and provide timely feedback to account team members
- Evaluate performance and skill level of account personnel and actively seek opportunities to
- develop staff and identify unmet training needs and training opportunities
- Monitor and balance scheduling and overall workload for the team

- Work across departments to ensure the success of daily operations & to manage interdepartmental issues
Financial Oversight
- Accountable for the forecasting, monthly and annual revenue recognition of assigned accounts
- Provide ongoing guidance to staff for pricing, revisions, and forecasting
- Alert SVP/VP Accounts to upsides/downsides related to revenue or forecasting
- Report early and often on any changes to financial picture
- Lead agency understanding of financial implications regarding jobs/accounts
- Ensure that issues regarding clients/jobs are identified as early as possible and provides a rationale
- and guidance on next steps
Business Development
- Expand agency opportunities to other client departments or divisions
- Participate actively in business development initiatives representing the account management team
- Mentor junior staff and encourage participation
- Continue to hone and perfect presentation style and agency responses to typical questions
- Maintain contact and open dialogue with an ongoing list of senior-level executives in the industry to

- Participate in networking events
- Tactical Management
- Direct account team to oversee tactics
- Provide guidance to high-profile and/or new strategy/deliverables

Qualifications:
Minimum Required:
Bachelor’s Degree
13 years of agency experience; experience successfully managing and growing $1M pharma/healthcare
accounts
Other Required:
May require travel domestically and/or internationally including overnight stays
