Position Summary
The Career Coach is responsible for working directly with 14-24 year old youth in Prince George’s County, focusing on pre-employment skill development, job search techniques, and skills needed to maintain employment.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist the youth in identifying their employment and education goals to create an achievable plan for success
- Identify, along with the youth, the specific skills required for employment and education while assisting the youth to harness these skills
- Maintain regular engagement with the youth to address their barriers to success
- Train student in areas of career readiness and essential skill building
- Coach youth to obtain quality employment leading to self-sustainability
- Support youth with retention once they have gained employment to ensure that employment is maintain through discharge
- Assist with the workforce team in developing community, education, and employer partnerships that support the goals of our youth.
- Communicate and support Program Manager and the Workforce Director to address issues surrounding participant employment and education goals.
- Utilize written computer-based documentation and database entry to record youth’s progress and goal achievement performance according the policies and procedures
- When necessary, complete incident reports according to Pressley Ridge policies and procedures
- Carry and respond to the cellular phone in a timely manner during work hours
- Attend all meetings and events relative to the progress in Towson and Prince Georges County Maryland
- Respond to the youth’s needs based on their level of self-sufficiency and established goals
Essential Qualifications
- Clearances: State criminal, FBI, and child/adult protected services as required by state regulations.
- Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.
Working Conditions
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds with assistance.
- While performing this job, the individual is regularly required to sit, type, and carry a laptop.
Working Hours:
Must be able to work standard business hours (M-F 9a-5p) with some flexibility to adjust hours monthly (11am-7pm) to meet the needs of the youth and the Workforce Program.
