The Prince George's County Department of Public Works & Transportation (DPW&T) is currently seeking highly qualified applicants to fill a Tool Room Manager (Supply Manager 1A) Grade A18 position in the Supply-Tool Room-Yard Division.
This position is responsible for providing leadership and daily oversight for all aspects of the Tool Room operations including asset management, maintenance, and inventory Control for the Office of Highway Maintenance (OHM) and Office of Storm Drain Maintenance (OSDM). The incumbent will ensure the tool room is well stocked, organized and efficient while supporting tool and equipment distribution for the Department.
About the Agency:
The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) is responsible for nearly 2,000 miles of County-maintained roadways that range from rural to urban classifications. The transportation infrastructure includes 900 bridges, as well as shoulders, sidewalks, curbs/gutters, stormwater management facilities, driveway aprons and nearly 3,000 acres of grassy area -- all of which are maintained by staff of the Department. DPW&T’s workforce keeps the County’s various services moving by performing a myriad of activities which include removing snow and ice from County-maintained roadways, upgrading traffic signals, installing streetlights, clearing fallen trees, unclogging drainage inlets and maintaining stormwater management facilities, as well as performing roadway repairs ranging from potholes and sidewalk trip hazards to bridge repairs and resurfacing projects and more.
Plan and implements new programs, revises existing programs consistent with enhancing the supply management functions of the County.
Oversee daily tool room operations, including tool and equipment issuance and return process.
Monitors tool and equipment usage and identify opportunities for optimization and cost reduction.
Develops written procedures for the various functions that are timely, efficient and consistent with legal and regulatory guidelines as applicable.
Monitors stock levels of all supplies to identify needs for reordering. Performs physical inventory counts to verify accuracy of stock records.
Manages issuance of supplies and equipment through automated asset management inventory system.
Prepares month management reports of submittal to the Administrator.
Ensures the spending is maintained within allocated sources and is accomplished pursuant to established regulations and procedures.
Financial documents, including payment request, requisitions, expense reimbursement, etc. are submitted in a timely accurate and completed format.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in marketing, retail sales and distribution, economics, business or public administration with course work in automated data processing or a related area.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
