Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Performs diagnostic nuclear medicine, therapeutic nuclear medicine, PET scanning, cardiac stress lab functions, and
perform diagnostic CT imaging as required by guidelines or physician order.
- Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
- Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
- Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
- Performs all nuclear medicine dynamic, static and functional procedures required by specific studies.
- Performs SPECT and SPECT CT imaging as required by guidelines or physician order.
- Performs PET imaging on a rotational basis as outlined in written procedures or directed by interpreting physician, as required.
- Performs all computer acquisition, and processing and documentation as required by procedure.
- Performs quality control on all Nuclear Medicine instrumentation as outlined by written procedure or manufactures guidelines.
- Orders and administers radiopharmaceuticals including positron emitters as required.
- Maintains records as outlined by the Alabama Department of Health, Radiation Control.
- Performs all safety checks as outlined by the Alabama Department of Health, Radiation Control.
- Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for the purpose of radiopharmaceutical and medication administration as
administer contrast as required by guidelines or physician order.
- Prepares radiopharmaceutical doses and calculates exact patient dosages as required by law and maintains records of such.
- Assists in the administration of therapeutic radioactive materials with an authorized user.
- Participates in the corporate ALARA Radiation Safety Program.
- Ensures safety of all customers.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements.
- Participates in Process Improvement activities.
- May be required to work at any facility.
- Provides safe patient transport.
- Handles, disposes, and decontaminates radioactive materials, while maintaining records of such under the regulations of the

- Demonstrates professional judgment and decision-making skills as required; solicits supervisory input as appropriate.
- Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the patient studies.
- Responsible for patient and family education of the studies being performed.

Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
- Must meet ONE of the following in totality:
- Maintains current certification as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology
- Maintains current certification as an (ARRT) (N) American Registry of Radiology Technologists in Nuclear Medicine
- Must meet ALL of the following:
- Maintains current Alabama State License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
- Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
- Must have knowledge of Nuclear Medicine equipment, procedures, and radiation safety.
