About Us:
Founded in 1905, the Princeton University Store ("The UStore") operates two physical locations in Princeton, New Jersey, (114-116 Nassau Street and 36 University Place) and an e-commerce site that have collectively been serving students, alumni, faculty, staff, administrators and the community at large for over a century. The store operates as a not-for-profit cooperative society, governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of students, faculty, administrators, and alumni. The UStore is a key member of the Princeton retail community with a wide selection of items including apparel, food/beverage, convenience items, dorm room essentials, Princeton insignia items and more. We are looking for a President of the Princeton University Store to help us continue to embrace our rich history and to accelerate us toward an even more vibrant future at the heart of the Princeton community.
Overview:
As the President of the Princeton University Store (“UStore”), you will be the driving force in shaping the UStore’s future trajectory, maximizing the brand worldwide, serving the on-campus and global Princeton community, and driving the UStore’s revenue growth in alignment with its missions. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, driving growth, and ensuring operational excellence across all aspects of the UStore’s business.

You are an expert at cultivating strong relationships with all stakeholders. Your role will serve as an advisor and support to a diverse group of stakeholders within the broader Princeton community including University students, alumni, faculty, administrators, staff, and the town community at large. The ask for this role is that you understand their diverse needs and pain points to deliver exceptional service and personalized solutions that bring the mission of the UStore to life.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record of progressive executive leadership in omnichannel retail organizations, with experience managing store operations with direct P&L ownership. Store/multi-store leadership experience is a plus.
- Superior people leadership skills with the ability to focus, align, and inspire people to deliver business outcomes, growth, and change. Strong commitment and track record to the development and success of your team members.
- Mindset and track record of questioning business processes and driving continuous change and innovation through people and technology.
- Exceptional strategic planning skills, with a track record of operationalizing strategy to drive results.
- Appreciation of technology, with the capability to oversee the UStore’s online presence, including e-commerce platform and social media accounts.
- Experience in marketing and promotions, especially in a campus environment, with a strong focus on customer experience and customer service.
- Bachelor’s degree, ideally in business administration or a related field, and experience living on a college campus.
Compensation:
On-Target Earnings (OTE) will start from $250k , with significant bonus opportunities tied to performance. Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.
