Principal Financial Group is currently searching for a full-time Captain for our corporate flight department based in Des Moines, Iowa. This is a unique opportunity to join our world-class team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient transport of passengers and crew.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the company aviation Safety Management System, reporting all safety hazards and concerns to foster a safe and professional environment.
- Safely and efficiently transport passengers and crew in accordance with company policies, regulations, and aircraft limitations.
- Interact with crew members, scheduling, and maintenance personnel in a clear and professional manner to achieve company goals.
- Prioritize passenger satisfaction by actively addressing their needs and goals throughout every flight.
- Have the final authority for the operation of the aircraft, including making decisions on delays, cancellations, and discontinuation of flights if conditions are not suitable.
- Ensure all flight planning requirements are met and complete all preflight and postflight tasks.
- Follow foreign and domestic country entrance procedures, including maintaining a valid passport and/or visa and completing required training and vaccinations.
- Ensure the aircraft is properly maintained, stocked, and presentable.
Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Unrestricted FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, current FAA First-Class Medical Certificate, FCC Radiotelephone Operator Permit, and a valid Passport enabling free travel to all countries.
- Minimum of 4,000 hours total flight experience, including 2,000 hours as pilot-in-command and 1,500 hours in a turbine engine aircraft.
- CE-680 type rating is preferred
- Knowledge of aircraft Standard Operating Procedures, flight manuals, and company operation manuals.

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$137000 - $185000 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
