Job Summary:
Principle Services is seeking a driven, hands-on professional to lead client development efforts primarily for utility clients in the power delivery and renewables markets. The ideal candidate will value company culture and mission, understand the power industry, and have a proven track record in developing strategic partnerships, securing new business, analyzing market trends, developing sales strategies and managing a sales pipeline. This role will interface directly with leadership across the organization and work closely with operations and other business development and marketing personnel.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic business development plans and objectives to support the company’s growth and market share objectives, in coordination with senior management.
- Relationship Building: Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, potential clients and partners, including decision-makers and influencers within targeted clients.
- Needs Analysis: Understand clients’ challenges, requirements and pain points related to the services we provide. Conduct thorough assessments to propose tailored solutions.
- Sales Cycle Management: Drive the sales process through initial contact to contract negotiation and closing. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of leads, opportunities and client interactions in the CRM system.
- Industry Engagement: Attend industry tradeshows, conferences and events to promote our company and enhance industry experience.
- Reporting: Participate in weekly meetings and report on business development activities, progress towards goals and potential challenges
- Market Analysis: Understand market trends and new market opportunities early on, driving early client engagement and translating these insights into actionable business opportunities. Understand competitor activities and provide feedback and market intelligence to internal teams for continuous improvement.
- Client Expansion: Expand work with existing clients through additional services and offerings that meet clients’ evolving needs.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including operations/technical experts, finance, and other business development team members.
- Client Relationship Management: Foster long-term relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction. Maintain proactive and assertive client follow-up while swiftly identifying new opportunities.
- Solution Presentation: Serve as the client’s voice and direct the preparation of bids, proposals, and presentations, ensuring they align with company standards and client expectations.
- Contract Negotiations: Understand client’s commercial posture and appetite for negotiation and support, as requested, on client contract negotiations.
Qualifications
- Ability to travel up to 50% with overnight stays
- 5 years’ proven experience within the energy industry is required.
- Experience within sales or business development functions within the transmission & distribution and/or renewable energy markets is preferred.
- Results-oriented mindset with focus on meeting and exceeding targets
- Bachelor’s degree (Business, Sales, Marketing, Engineering) or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrated ability in consistently meeting sales objectives
- Familiarity with execution of sales and marketing tactics
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with CRM systems, particularly Salesforce, preferred
Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift 30 pounds.
- Extended periods of sitting and working on computer screens
- Must be able to travel for extended periods in a vehicle, airplane or other transportation means.
