IT Help Desk I

Location: Spring Hill, TN

Job Overview

The IT Help Desk I directs and coordinates local area computer network activities and supports the day-to-day operations of the IT Department. Provides internal computer systems support, troubleshooting, and system setup. Provides user technical training as directed.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installs, and maintains local area network hardware, software, and telecommunications services such as personal computers, system software, software applications and new user setup;
  • Enforces IT policies, procedures, and best practices;
  • Administers the office telecommunications system including new user set up, training, and mobile devices;
  • Trains users on software and equipment usage;
  • Setup up new network areas; run data and phone cable, terminate to patch bay with RJ45 or appropriate connector;
  • Maintain all printers and supply inventory in the facility; Zebra label printers, scanners, and copiers;
  • Maintain badge system equipment; address door lock malfunction and system time zones;
  • Maintain all security cameras and server; replace defective cameras and run cable as needed;
  • Maintains all network cabinets and server room equipment; Network switches, media convertors, NEC SV8100 digital phone cabinets, UPS backups and servers;
  • Maintains all Wi-Fi equipment such as Access points; adjust and replace as needed;
  • Responds to the needs and questions of network users; provides Level 1 network support;
  • Creates support tickets - IT ticket system - "Trackit" - for support requests;
  • Collects physical inventory of all computer equipment and logs into tracking system;
  • Escalates IT issues to Network Administrator & Senior Manager of Technology as appropriate;
  • Assists with special projects as it relates to system software, software testing and report reconciliations;
  • Performs network maintenance per plan; maintains log of maintenance performed;
  • Assists users with electronic needs for meetings (projector, video conference, etc.);
  • Follow cGMP guidelines and processes as established in department SOPs;
  • Projects and other duties as deemed necessary.

Requirements And Skills

  • High school diploma required;
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school;
  • Microsoft Office Certified;
  • Six months of applicable experience in the IT area;
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications and Citrix a plus;
  • Strong, proven working background in help desk support;
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations;
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals;
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public;
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists;
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form;
  • Have knowledge of Accounting Software, Contact Management systems, Database software, Internet software, Inventory software, Order processing systems, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software;
  • Ability to learn new concepts/hardware/technologies quickly;
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems promptly and efficiently;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Ability to receive and follow through on assigned tasks;
  • Advanced knowledge of general computer operations and concepts.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended hours;
  • Ability to view a computer screen and type for extended hours;
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.;
  • Work environment is normally in an office setting. Must be able to make rounds in a warehouse environment;
  • Other physical requirements include occasional climbing, squatting, bending, and twisting;
  • Ability to adjust work schedule as business requires.
