Digitalization Technician

Job Summary/Objective/Role:

Under the general direction of Project Managers and Solutions Specialists, the Digitalization Services Technician Level 1 serves as a member of a cross-functional project team and has responsibility to support and execute tasks on projects, professional service contracts, and service calls. This will include the installation/configuration of physical computers, virtual machines, network devices, databases, third-party software applications, and general application programming.

Requirements:

1. Associate s degree in an accredited engineering discipline, technical school degree/certificate in an IT-related program, or have at least 2 years of equivalent experience.
2. Travel required.

Essential Functions:

1. Analyze and troubleshoot existing software applications.
2. Support other team members to ensure design aspects are achieved.
3. Collaboration with senior-level staff to review, recommend, develop, and implement customer solutions
4. Develop detailed system documentation.
5. Contribute to the development of project documentation (RAILs, FATs/SATs, SOWs, FDS, etc.)
6. Support project documentation at the direction of team members.

1. Hardware and software installation at the direction of other team members
   1. Server, PC, UPS, switch, NAS, redundancy, etc.
   2. OS, communications software, drivers, other software packages, etc.
   3. Update device firmware, Install, license, and patch software, update drivers
2. Networking
   1. Gain an understanding of networking principles such as IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, VPN, Routing, etc.
   2. Configure network hardware at the direction of other team members.
   3. Assist with the development and modification of network documentation.
3. Backend Development & Support
   1. Gain an understanding of database development and database queries within SSMS or similar.
   2. Gain an understanding of integrating software application data via APIs/payloads (ERP, WMS, MES, Printing Applications, etc.)
   3. Create custom scripting/programming at the direction of other team members
   4. Become proficient in the configuration of third party software applications
4. Frontend Development at the direction of other team members
   1. User Interface & SCADA/HMI Screen Development
   2. Creation of automated reports within SSRS and SCADA reporting tools
5. Gain understanding of PLCs and ancillary automation equipment.
6. On-site support for design reviews, installation, start-up, and troubleshooting.
7. Provide remote technical support to clients under the direction of other team members.
8. Executes functional tests under direction of other team members to ensure quality in software development.
9. Startup Verifications (FAT/SAT documentation).

Physical Demands: Must possess ability to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer, and to visit various client and meeting sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Finger dexterity needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard and to operate standard office equipment. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although prolonged standing and walking and the ability to climb ramps, stairs, and ladders may be required when traveling or on client site. May occasionally require the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 40 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.
