Summary:
The Draftsperson is responsible for complete drafting and of layouts for live events, from design conception to installation and post production. They will work closely with Directors and Project Managers throughout the process.
Tasks include:
- Coordination with Project Managers on development of site plans, studies, and layouts including complex layering and exporting from various software programs as it relates to rigging, lighting, audio/video, scenic, etc.
- Coordination with Project Managers on layout needs as it relates to event permits, including TPA, SAPO, DOB
- Ensuring accuracy of data and measurements both in drafting and onsite (site surveys, tape outs, etc.)
- Communication and support with multiple onsite vendors to ensure accuracy
- Adherence to event timelines
Requirements:
Ideal candidate has an understanding of live event or theater production including:
- Fabrication, theatrical/temporary scenery construction, scenic and decorative finishes
- Audio, lighting and video elements and installation timelines
- Proficient in CAD software/drawing development (Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Sketchup, etc.)
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Ability to commute to the office for regular workdays Monday - Friday, 9:30am – 5:00pm
- Must work well in a team dynamic
- Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is a plus
- Other production and site management experience is a plus including AV installations, lighting, rigging, HVAC, Video, film/TV production, etc.
- Logistics and vendor management experience is a plus
Experience:
- Experience with CAD software/drawing development, including AutoCAD and Vectorworks
- Strong organizational, analytical and time management skills
- Experience with live event or theatre production
- Experience with Adobe Suite
Freelance and contract positions available, estimated 2-6 month commitment.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
