As a Fire Alarm Technician at Professional Fire Protection, you are responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm systems in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. You ensure that all fire alarm systems are functioning properly and in compliance with NFPA codes and local regulations. This role involves fieldwork, including conducting system tests, diagnosing issues, and performing repairs, while maintaining strong relationships with clients to provide timely and professional service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation:
o Install fire alarm systems, including wiring, panels, sensors, and detectors, according to project specifications and regulatory requirements.
o Ensure fire alarm systems are installed correctly, functioning properly, and integrated with other life safety systems (e.g., sprinkler systems).
o Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate installation.
2. Inspection and Testing:
o Conduct regular inspections and testing of fire alarm systems to ensure they are fully operational and comply with NFPA standards and local fire codes.
o Perform functionality tests, including smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, and control panels, to ensure accurate operation.
o Document and report any system deficiencies, recommending corrective actions to clients.
3. Maintenance and Repair:
o Perform routine maintenance on fire alarm systems, including cleaning and adjusting detectors, testing batteries, and ensuring system reliability.
o Troubleshoot and repair faulty components, such as alarms, detectors, and control panels, ensuring minimal downtime for clients.
o Respond promptly to emergency service calls and resolve fire alarm system issues efficiently.
4. System Upgrades:
o Upgrade existing fire alarm systems to meet changes in fire codes, building requirements, or client needs.
o Replace or add components to enhance system performance and ensure compliance with updated safety regulations.
5. Compliance and Safety:
o Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with NFPA standards, local fire codes, and company safety protocols.
o Stay current with fire protection regulations and best practices to ensure systems are compliant and meet client safety requirements.
o Participate in safety trainings and follow company safety policies to ensure a safe working environment.
6. Client Interaction:
o Communicate with clients to explain system functions, maintenance needs, and any repairs or upgrades necessary to maintain compliance.
o Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring that clients understand the importance of regular system checks and keeping systems up to code.
o Address client concerns and provide solutions promptly, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
7. Documentation and Reporting:
o Complete detailed work orders, inspection reports, and service documentation, ensuring all work is properly recorded.
o Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and inspections for future reference.
o Provide service reports to clients and management, outlining the work performed, system condition, and any additional recommendations.
8. Goal Achievement:
o Consistently achieve pre-established performance goals.
9. Other:
o Attend company meetings as required.

Qualifications:
· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fire alarm installation, maintenance, or repair.
· High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electrical systems or fire protection is preferred.
· NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II or higher) is highly desirable. State or local licensing may be required.
· Strong understanding of fire alarm systems, NFPA codes, and local fire safety regulations. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
· Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks.
· Clean driving record.
