Position Summary

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Sales Director to lead and expand our sales efforts in the utility and metering industry. The ideal candidate will be an experienced sales leader with a proven track record of developing and executing high-impact sales strategies, cultivating client relationships, and leading a team to achieve ambitious growth targets. This is a remote position with periodic travel required to meet clients, attend industry events, and provide support to regional sales teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Sales Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to drive growth in the public utilities and AMI markets, targeting new business opportunities and strengthening existing relationships.
  • Client and Partner Relationship Management: Build and nurture strong, lasting relationships with key clients, decision-makers, and industry partners to foster long-term business success.
  • Proposal Development: Lead the development and submission of competitive proposals, bids, and RFP responses that meet clients’ needs and differentiate PMI in the marketplace.
  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Manage and mentor a high-performing sales and proposal development team, providing guidance, motivation, and professional development to achieve team objectives.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (e.g., engineering, operations, customer service) to ensure smooth project implementation and client satisfaction.
  • Market Monitoring: Keep abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies in the utility and metering sectors to refine sales strategies and maintain competitive advantage.
  • Industry Representation: Represent PMI at trade shows, conferences, and client meetings, effectively communicating the company’s value proposition to stakeholders.
  • Sales Reporting and Forecasting: Provide regular sales updates, forecasts, and performance metrics to executive leadership to support decision-making and business strategy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong experience in selling to public utilities or related sectors.
  • Familiarity with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and/or meter installation services.
  • Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing sales team.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly across the U.S.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and adaptability to changing market conditions.
