Job Summary:
The Surgery Scheduler provides essential clerical support to ensure smooth and efficient patient care. This role involves coordinating surgical procedures, managing necessary documentation, and collaborating with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain CPT and ICD-10 diagnosis codes and other required clinical information from practice staff, seeking assistance from practice and facility coders as needed.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for Notification of Non-covered Medicare Services or Advance Beneficiary Notices according to established procedures.
- Determine required operating room time for procedures and collaborate with the facility to schedule, optimize the daily schedule, and arrange necessary anesthesia coverage, following facility processes.
- Confirm that all procedural requirements have been met with the facility or other relevant parties, including medical/imaging records and needed equipment/instruments.
- Ensure the accuracy and timely completion of scheduling packets.
- Obtain patient face sheets from Insurance Verification to secure necessary authorizations based on insurance types.
- Obtain authorization notes from the facility and scan them into the medical record or practice management system.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma preferred.
- Minimum one year of experience in a medical office setting (e.g., ambulatory surgery center, hospital, physician's office) strongly preferred.
- Required: Previous experience in surgery scheduling.
- Preferred: General understanding of CPT coding/billing, insurance verification, and prior authorizations.
Salary : $18 - $24
