Seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer for Transmission Planning and Operational Studies in Orlando
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Principal Engineer to conduct and support various transmission planning and operational studies. As the ideal candidate, you will have extensive knowledge of power flow analysis as well as transient stability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
- At least 10 years of experience working on Power Delivery utilities projects
- Professional engineering license a plus
Responsibilities:
As a new Senior Principal Engineer at this reputable firm, your responsibilities would include but are not limited to;
Transmission Planning & Operations Study Support - Provide technical leadership by conducting system impact assessments due to changes made within the bulk electric system including generation interconnections (new sources), demand response programs (load shedding) etc.
Power Flow Analysis - Conduct steady-state modeling using tools like PSS/E software for large-scale interconnected electrical systems with renewable energy resources such as wind turbines or solar panels.
Transient Stability Evaluation - Perform dynamic simulations that assesses how quickly oscillations dampen out after disturbances occur during normal operation conditions.
Skills Required:
The successful applicant must possess expertise in;
* Knowledgeable about NERC compliance standards,
* Demonstrated ability solving complex problems related to Bulk Electric System operations while maintaining adequate reliability levels .
* Excellent communication skills both written and oral

* Bachelor of Science in an engineering field from an accredited program; advanced degree a plus (Master's or PhD).
* Minimum 15 years of experience in electric utility operations, planning, or consulting, with a proven track record of leadership and strategic project management.
* Deep knowledge of electric transmission systems and planning processes.
* Extensive experience with power system planning and operations, including transient stability, short circuit, and voltage analysis.
* Familiarity with NERC, FERC, and Regional requirements, policies, and procedures.
* Expertise in production costing, risk assessment techniques, TPL compliance, generator interconnection, and harmonics analysis.
* Proficiency with industry software (PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, Promod, Tara, Probe)
* Demonstrated ability to independently lead and execute complex transmission system planning studies.
* Comprehensive understanding of power regions and independent system operators (PJM, MISO, ERCOT, SPP)
* In-depth knowledge of NERC and FERC standards.
Professional Engineering License (PE) a strong plus.
