Position Summary
The Workforce Coordinator will be a member of Project HOPE’s Workforce and Education team. They will be a career coach and advisor for students in Workforce and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programming. They will meet with them to identify and acquire new job opportunities to increase their living standards. They will also be responsible for presenting topics related to workforce readiness to classes in coordination with instructors. They will develop and maintain relationships with employers in key industries in partnership with the senior leadership staff. They will collaborate with other workforce development stakeholders to develop strategies that benefit participants and stay informed about current labor market trends, recruitment practices, and labor needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide college and career readiness coaching services to students enrolled in Project HOPE’s ESOL and job training programs. Assist students in identifying goals and mapping out a plan to achieve them.
- Support participants in all aspects of their job search, including assistance with employment applications, interview preparation and follow-up, onboarding, understanding dress codes, and securing reliable transportation.
- Collaborate with job training instructors to develop and deliver instruction on job readiness-related topics such as interview preparation, resolving conflicts at work, and professional communication.
- Conduct outreach to employers in key hospitality, technology, and healthcare industries. Promote engagement by inviting employers as guest speakers, providing site tours, and conducting mock interviews.
- Collaborate with employer partners to support student job placements and retention.
- Strengthen partnerships with other workforce development agencies such as the MassHire Boston Career Centers, the Boston Private Industry Council (PIC), the Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development, and other training providers.
- Cultivate external partnerships with like-minded local community-based organizations and collaborate on programs and services that address the needs of our clients and the communities they serve.
- Manage input of all data and documentation about job training activities, coaching/advising, and job/education placement data.
- Recording student activities across work-study programs
- Assist with operating and organizing skills development classes onsite (Digital Literacy Program, Biological Science Program, etc.)
- Assist with the completion of quarterly reports for public and private funders.
- Other duties as needed.
Position Requirements:
- Strong commitment to Project HOPE Boston Inc.'s mission and values.
- A bachelor’s degree in a human services-related field is required.
- At least one year of workforce development experience focusing on culturally diverse, low-income communities and/or families experiencing homelessness.
- Working knowledge of state WorkForce programs and reporting is required
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to encourage job seekers.
- Good problem-solving skills and excellent follow-through.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to connect with and relate to both community members and employers.
- Experience in healthcare, hospitality, and/or technology a plus.
