Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director to lead our organization in delivering exceptional services and programs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in behavioral health and program management, particularly in working with individuals who are experiencing homeless. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker who can effectively manage budgets, supervise staff, and foster relationships within the community to enhance program development.
Duties
- Because support and supervision for resident families is at the heart of our mission, the director will:
- 1. Call and coordinate biweekly team meetings of the Case Managers, Child Care, and Activities Coordinator.
- 2. Assemble all Family Care Monitors from all shifts at least once per month.
- 3. Gather the entire staff at least monthly to focus on common concerns or crises.
- 4. Monitor all case management with particular attention to compliance with Part 900 regulations, documentation, clarity of each family’s service plan, and progress toward its goal, including permanent housing.
- 5. Review each working day the 24-hour log maintained by family care monitors and incident reports.
- 6. Be accessible to staff for consultation and professional support when residents’ issues need immediate resolution.
- 7. Self-assign total case management for one or more families during staff shortage or family crisis;
- 8. Educate and motivate our staff to focus continually on creative program development.
- 9. Be on call 24 hours a day and 7 days a week except as specifically assigned to other staff.
- Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business administration, Public Administration, or related human services field preferred.
- Experience in an agency serving the homeless, preferably a Family Shelter
- Strong administrative and program development skills demonstrated by previous experience.
- ability to offer supervision, professional consultation, support to our staff, and ongoing mandated staff training. Substance abuse, sexual harassment, and how to deal with people who have anger problems.
- English/Spanish bilingual helpful.
- Knowledge about chemical dependency and experience with chemically dependent persons.
- Five years or more skill in computer programs, Microsoft Word, Excel, Desktop publications, and QuickBooks.
