What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor with Nonprofit Camp position at Project Morry?
About us: Morry's Camp is a residential summer camp located in the Catskill Mountains of New York. Morry's Camp is the summer portion of the year round youth-development organization, Project Morry. We believe that summer camps provide youth with a unique opportunity for growing independence, self-discovery, and skill building. Our mission is to provide our youth access to these opportunities regardless of economic status.
About the position: Our counselors serve as role models, mentors, and leaders for our campers. They are assigned a specific group of kids, and their primary role is to accompany their group throughout the day and participate in the activities alongside their campers. Over time, they will begin to become experts on the campers in their group, and develop close bonds with them. This is a great opportunity to meet and create community with like minded young adults, and hone leadership and team building skills. Previous experience working with youth is a plus, but is not required.
Responsibilities and expectations:
- Remain vigilant and aware of their campers to help ensure their safety.
- Participate in camp activities with their campers.
- Consistently check in with their campers in structured and unstructured ways.
- Make an effort to bond and create connections with each of their campers.
- Kid Specialists will work with their co-counselors to various routines for the campers (e.g. wake up, rest hour, nighttime).

Compensation: Counselors live on site for the duration of their contracted dates. Room and board is included in salary. Applicant should be available between June 20th through August 10th. The salary for this position is $2,000 plus $200 for completing the season.
