Position Summary:
Promesa Academy Charter School is seeking a diligent and reliable Facility Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Facility Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the school facilities. This role is vital in ensuring a healthy and pleasant environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and emptying trash.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas.
- Ensure all cleaning supplies are used safely and stored properly.
Facility Upkeep:
- Monitor and report any maintenance or safety issues to the Facilities Manager.
- Assist with minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
- Set up and break down furniture and equipment for school events and activities.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe environment for students and staff.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to manufacturer instructions and school policies.
- Respond promptly to any emergency cleaning needs, such as spills or accidents.
Team Collaboration:
- Work cooperatively with other custodial staff and school personnel.
- Participate in training and professional development as required.
- Assist with special projects and seasonal tasks, such as deep cleaning during school breaks.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
- Experience in a school or similar environment is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and bending.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
-Handyperson and/or HVAC experience preferred
Other Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must pass a background check and meet other employment requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools.
