Salary : $27 to $42 per hour based on experience
General Summary :
Prepares accurate, updated, and reliable Network and Outside plant information by assuring that all GIS data is entered into the Mapping Database.
Essential Job Functions :
Responsible for data input and maintenance of the GIS database.
Responsible for maintaining and validating data flow between the MBS and 3GIS systems.
Responsible for validating all data that is enter from the field.
Responsible for data of the Network plant system.
Responsible for updating and maintaining maps and schematics.
Responsible for updating the GIS land base including roads, subdivisions, parcels, boundaries,and annexations.
Responsible for updating and maintenance of all 911 address database information.
Responsible for updating PUPS data.
Responsible for providing maps, schematics, and CPR data as requested.
Responsible for providing data for FCC, ORS, NECA, and JSI reports.
Work with marketing and sales for data maps.
Works with minimal supervision and is familiar with PRTC / RUS codes, telephony, broadband,and plant / engineering procedures.
Assists in other areas of the Plant Engineering Department as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall objectives of the department.
Assist OSP Engineers with fiber rearrangement and cutover preparation.
Work with CM on cutover by providing cut sheets, SOW, and MOP from the mapping system.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of computer-aided drafting principles and practices.
Knowledge of industry regulations effecting engineering projects.
Knowledge of company products and services.
Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
Knowledge of fiber route network junction numbering system.
Knowledge of fiber counts and connection procedures.
Knowledge of TIA-598-C standard fiber identification procedures.
Skill in operating various office equipment such as personal computer, various software programs, and telephone systems.
Skill in written and oral communication.
Skill in reading and interpreting technical documents and forms including work orders, staking sheets, schematics, and circuit diagrams.
Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments.
Ability to pay close attention to detail.
Ability to utilize ESRI, 3-GIS, and other GIS software.
Ability to work with GPS units.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to analyze and interpret 811 locate notices.
Ability to submit and maintain county and SCDOT permits.
Ability to make sound decisions with information at hand.
Ability to effectively function as a team player.
Education and Experience :
High school diploma required.
2 years GIS system experience required.
Experience designing PON and Fiber networks preferred.
Associates degree in engineering or equivalent strongly desired.
Must have experience operating a personal computer and using Microsoft Office products suchas Outlook, Word, and Excel or related applications. Must have good typing skills.
