What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Admissions- International position at Purdue University?
The Assistant Director of Admissions – International will promote Purdue University’s undergraduate programs and advise prospective students in the college search and selection process. This position is primarily responsible for assisting the Office of Admissions with the strategy and initiatives related to the admission and recruitment of international undergraduate students. Responsibilities will include admission recruitment, application review and responding to phone and email inquiries. This position will frequently engage, both in-person and virtually, with prospective domestic and international students and their families in one-on-one meetings as well as to large and small audiences on-campus and around the world. The position may also include program coordination and other projects.
The ideal candidate will be an outstanding communicator with the ability to tactfully engage and build relationships with prospective students and families, high school counselors, organizations, and campus partners. Additionally, this position requires cultural understanding, international travel, the ability to think critically, independently using problem solving, and judgment skills to make educated, professional decisions. The successful candidate will understand and support the benefits of a diverse campus community and value the perspective of others.

Qualified candidates will need:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Two (2) years of customer service, admissions, or related experience in any context
Skills needed:
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to understand and relate to diverse and international populations
- Demonstrated international and/or cultural experiences and competency
- Computer and related software skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.
- Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds
- Ability to work flexible schedule including some evening and weekend hours
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally – at least 2-4 weeks a year
- A valid driver's license
Nice to have:
- Experience in university admissions and recruitment
- Familiarity with foreign education systems, grading scales, and curricula
- Experience working in an international context
- Foreign language skills
- Master’s degree
