Purdue University is seeking an Indoor Air Quality Technician (IAQ) Trainee to join our dynamic team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to learn and grow within our Operations and Maintenance department, supporting various crafts including the IAQ group, Central Shops, and Zones.
As an IAQ Trainee, you will:
- Develop essential skills in temperature control, mechanical system controls, direct digital controls, electric control systems, testing and balancing, and fume hood balancing.
- Learn to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
- This role may require overtime.

Education and Experience:
Qualified candidates will need:
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to complete Module one and two of the Indoor Air Quality Apprenticeship program within 24 months of employment
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Basic mathematical skills and ability to interpret technical materials
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and control schematics
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with word processors and spreadsheets
- Physical ability to lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally
- Valid US or Canadian driver's license
Preferred Experience
- One year of experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning control or related area
