Purpose Built Schools Atlanta seeks an analytical and innovative Instructional Coach Specialist for grades 6-12 to support new and emerging teachers toward academic success across middle and high school levels. This person will report to the Senior Director of Curriculum and Instruction and provide targeted support to teachers, facilitate professional development, model effective teaching strategies, and use data to drive instructional decisions.

Role & Responsibilities
The 6-12 Instructional Coach Specialist sits on the instructional team at Price Middle School and Carver STEAM Academy, reporting to the Senior Director of Curriculum and Instruction. This person will drive student results by:
- Conduct 6-12 classroom observations and provide personalized, constructive, and actionable feedback on practices and instruction for new and emerging teachers.
- Provide an instructional program designed to assist new teachers with zero to three years of teaching experience in developing skills in preparation for effective lesson planning, presentation of academic content, classroom management, and school and community communications.
- Work collaboratively with school principals, deans of academics, and instructional coaches to develop, update, and implement instructional programming.
- Assist teachers in the development and implementation of effective classroom management strategies, individual behavioral intervention plans, instructional planning, and classroom organization, as needed.
- Model instructional practices in a variety of settings and providing follow-up support to ensure effective teacher implementation.
- Plan and facilitate professional development for teachers as needed in the use of the curriculum and instructional materials for the various assigned programs.
- Assist teachers in designing engaging lessons aligned with Georgia Standards of Excellence.
- Foster a positive culture of collaboration and continuous improvement in instruction by promoting respect, inclusion, and academic excellence.
- Providing ongoing professional development that supports the school plan for continuous improvement and school division initiatives.
Curriculum & Instructional Intervention (30%)
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of interventions and adjust strategies for students performing below educational standards.
- Participate in curriculum development, textbook adoption processes, and the development of local common assessments.
- Ensure alignment of instructional practices with district and Georgia Standards of Excellence 6-12 standards.
- Assist in the development and refinement of the 6-12 curriculum and instructional materials.
- Provide input regarding appropriate intervention/remediation strategies for students.
- Assist teachers and principals, deans of academics, and instructional coaches in designing programs to meet the needs of all students.
- Participate in parent conferences, when appropriate, and provide instructional suggestions to parents, as needed.
- Review assessment results by school and division and participating in the development of an improvement plan.
- Assist teachers with using assessment data to plan instruction.
- Provide ongoing training and follow-up in the use of assessment tools.
- Communicate regularly with 6-12 teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders regarding grades 6-12 instructional goals, progress, and needs.

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, or related field.
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in Education
- Active Georgia Teaching license (T4 or higher in Secondary Education grades 6-12) , either in GA or able to be transferred to GA within year one of the role.
- Preferred: Leadership Certificate L5-L7.

Required:
- Minimum of 3 years of urban education experience in grades 6-12 with an established track record of student achievement.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using performance data across 6-12 grade levels to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.

- Knowledge of curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment frameworks, including advanced/remedial pathways.
- Experience designing and leading professional learning programs that support teachers who are new or need extra support.
- Track record of improving student outcomes.
Compensation and Benefits
Purpose Built Schools offers comprehensive benefits and a competitive salary that credits an additional step relative to verified years of experience under Atlanta Public Schools policy.
