What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Server position at Quantum Process, LLC?
Description of Services Requested:
- Work with Quantum Process, LLC as a self-employed independent contractor court process server by serving (delivering) or attempting to serve legal documents to individuals at their residence or to business owners and / or businesses within the county where you reside.
- This opportunity is for self employment. In other words, individuals who work at their own discretion, invoice us monthly, provide all their own materials, vehicle, insurance, gas, paper, ink, smartphone and offer a service that Quantum Process is willing to pay for.
- Each contractor is responsible for withholding their own income tax on profit made, keeping up with their own expenses and filing their own taxes with the IRS. Contractors receive a 1099 in January of each year.
- Receive assignments electronically via email notification when a service is assigned to you.
- Provide status on each service by indicating attempts and / or successful service through an application on your smartphone as the attempts are made at or near the service address.
- Print and complete a proof of service or proof of non service that often requires your signature to be notarized in front of a notary public.
- Scan then upload a completed proof of service or proof of non service to a website portal through a desktop scanner or application on your phone that converts a picture into a PDF image into our online website portal.
Self-Employed independent contract process servers should have the following skills and attributes:
- The ability to "think outside of the box." Determine how to solve challenges that an average person may not encounter.
- The ability to locate addresses within the county where you live by using online mapping programs and in some cases conduct research to locate an address that cannot be located with online mapping or "GPS".
- Highly self-motivated with an extreme almost obsessive attention to detail.
- Have the ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner to a wide variety of people and not be easily offended when people are not cooperative or are not cordial when contact with them is made.
- Have the ability to interpret and deal with dogs encountered to determine if they are a threat or not. Have the ability to discern between a dog that is likely to bite or cause injury as opposed to dogs that are not a threat even though they are barking.
- Have an almost obsessive extreme attention to detail. One missed detail could throw an entire service out as invalid.
- Have a reputation of always being truthful and would never mislead or withhold information that pertains to their duty as a professional process server.
- The ability to write short narratives relating to the events that took place while serving. These short narratives should include concise, factual oral statements received from individuals at addresses where process is attempted. They should be pertinent to the service and grammatically correct. No personal opinion, conjecture or unrelated information should be provided in the narrative.
- Have their own transportation, automobile liability insurance, access to a printer, copy paper to print court papers and understand as a self-employed independent contractor are responsible for all expenses for attempts to serve the court papers.
- The ability to prepare invoices and statements to Quantum Process.
- The ability to receive payment on a monthly basis in the form of a statement and invoices.
- Be extremely responsible with deadlines, meeting timeframes and understanding that all service of process from the beginning to the conclusion is a time based product.
- Have a tremendous amount of self initiative. Should be a "self starter" to get work completed in a timely manner by setting their own schedule and working your own hours. Extremely organized with dates and deadlines.
- Willing to meet minimum industry standards of making up to three attempts at one address in an attempt to serve individuals. Each attempt should be made on different days at different times of the day when an individual would likely be available to be served.
- The ability to work on some weekends and "prime time" which is typically in the evening after 5 pm when individuals are most likely to be at home.
- Comfortable using your smartphone through a mobile app.
- Comfortable sending and receiving emails through your smart phone.
- Respond quickly to emails received.
- Understanding that all communication is made to and from Quantum Process via email or within our online website portal or through an application on your smartphone.
- The ability to approach and communicate with individuals who may have different ethical, socio economic, educational, religious or geographic backgrounds.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from High School or G.E.D.
- Valid Driver's License, no criminal history except for minor traffic infractions or other minor misdemeanors.
- Pass a background check and have never been convicted of a felony and/or various misdemeanors.
- The ability to work in addition to any other job you may have that includes at times working during any hours Monday through Sunday from as early as 7 AM to 9 PM including weekends when necessary.
- Willing to invoice and receive payment on all invoices to you on a monthly basis via direct deposit to your checking account.
Work Location:
- On the road locating addresses within the county where you reside.
- Fully remote and working on the road going to residences and businesses attempting to deliver court papers.
Timeframe to complete work
- Most attempts to serve the papers may be made at your convenience but all have deadlines and all attempts (usually up to three) should be made on different days at different times. There is usually a window of up to three days to make your first attempt to serve the papers but follow up attempts if not served on the first attempt should be made within 48 hrs or in some situations may be extended further.
Your fee for services rendered isn't based on whether the papers are successfully served or not. It's based on your ability to provide adequate diligence to serve them that includes making at least three attempts during these timeframes:
1) early morning (7 am to 8 am)
2) mid-day (9 am to 4 pm) and
3) evening (5 pm to 9 pm)

Job Type: Part-time as an Independent Contractor Self-Employed
Acceptable invoicing for service or diligence to serve an individual is $55 to $75 per service whether the papers are served or not. Multiple serves going to the same person are usually billed to us at a rate of $15 per additional service.
