POSITION SUMMARY: The primary function of this Digital Designer is website design and higher end design. This position will lead the design, upkeep, and optimization of our website and other digital tasks as needed. This role involves creating visually appealing, user-friendly designs, performing regular updates, and ensuring the site runs smoothly and efficiently. Key responsibilities include managing WordPress updates and maintaining overall website functionality to deliver an exceptional user experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Website Design and Development:
Design and implement visually appealing, user-friendly layouts that align with brand guidelines.
Optimize website elements for desktop, tablet, and mobile responsiveness.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure website meets functional and aesthetic goals.
Website Maintenance and Updates:
Perform regular updates to WordPress core, themes, and plugins.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly.
Monitor website performance and implement enhancements to improve speed and functionality.
Content Edits and Enhancements:
Update website content as needed, ensuring alignment with current branding and messaging.
Create multimedia, such as images, videos, and graphics, to enhance user engagement.
SEO Optimization:
Conduct SEO audits and implement best practices to improve search engine rankings.
Optimize website metadata, keywords, and structure for better discoverability.
Monitor and report on website traffic and performance using analytics tools.
Plugin Management and Integration:
Research, purchase, and implement plugins and tools to enhance website functionality.
Ensure compatibility and security of plugins within the existing website structure.
General Website Oversight:
Maintain website security, including backups and updates to prevent vulnerabilities.
Stay informed about web design trends, technologies, and best practices.
Participate in mandatory training/coursework. Including but not limited to:
Title IX and Sexual Misconduct
Sexual Harassment and Non-Discrimination
Security Policy and Notification of Security Reporting
FERPA
Municipal Ethics Law
Assume other related duties as assigned.
Developing and maintaining a clear and consistent brand
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None assigned - reports to Executive Director of Marketing.
TRAVEL: Assignment/travel for both Quincy and Plymouth Campuses, Boston location as well as other local travel may be required.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience is required with an emphasis in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, and Marketing. This position must be motivated to keep up with new or evolving computer graphics and design trends independently.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Three or more years of digital design and maintenance.
Advanced skills with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Figma)
Proficiency in:
WordPress and/or other content management systems
Adobe Creative Suite & Microsoft Office Suite
Constant Contact or equivalent platforms
Knowledge in digital marketing, social media, client management, insights and trends.
Ability to work independently on projects
Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with colleagues and partners of varied backgrounds and experience
Knowledge of project management software is a plus.
Basic understanding of HTML & CSS
Experience with mobile and responsive web design is a plus.
Good judgment and discretion, strategic decision-making, and problem-solving.
Prior experience collaborating with printers and outside vendors is a must.
High level of Creativity and Design.
Must be motivated to keep up with new or evolving design trends independently.
Possess valid driver's license.
Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
