The Role
- The Senior Screening Research Technician is responsible for following protocol guidelines for the preparation, collection, transfer, storage and shipping of all screening specimens according to protocol requirements and OSHA/State of Florida biohazardous regulations
- Responsibilities include monitoring of proper sample collection, storage and delivery of samples to designated analytical laboratories and obtaining all test results for review by the Investigators
- To comply & adhere to GCP guidelines and regulations as required of this role
- To ensure study data is collected to a high quality in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards
- To ensure subject safety at all times
- Responsible for reviewing and understanding study protocols prior to initiation of study
- Responsible for attending protocol training meetings to review specimen processing requirements and ensures availability of supplies needed
- Coordinates services with any central lab involved in the study
- Responsible for the proper collection, processing and labeling of all specimens
- Responsible for verifying the completion and accuracy of specimen records
- Must be familiar with all relevant SOPs
- Responsible for the performance of quality control checks for lab requisitions
- Responsible for reporting events regarding the damage or loss of a sample or incidences involving spillage or employee injury
- Responsible for recording the temperature of all freezers and refrigerators in the appropriate temperature logs on a daily basis
- Verifies that all biohazardous materials are disposed of appropriately
- Ensures proper labeling and preparation of biohazardous waste for transport
- Responsible for ensuring that proper containers, labels and dry ice are available for shipping
- Responsible for preparing specimens for shipping and adhering to regulations for biological sample shipping
- Responsible for arranging overnight/express shipping of specimens and maintaining related shipping documents
- Receives and sorts all laboratory test results for review by the Investigators and clinical staff
- Ensures all lab results have been received for potential volunteers prior to utilization in a study
- Assists with performance of vital sign and ECG measurements as assigned
- Assist the recruitment team when required
- Assists in any other duties as assigned
- Include Cross Training for labs activities at impatient facility
- High School Diploma
- Phlebotomist certificate
- Minimum 5 years experience in laboratory procedures
- Current IATA certification preferred
- Working knowledge of State of Florida OSHA guidelines
- Proficient computer skills
- Thorough in task completion - attention to detail
