What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ocean Export Operations position at Röhlig Logistics?
Position Purpose:
Assist management in achieving the stated branch goals in line with the company policy and established procedures, including increasing company profit. Coordinate activities for expeditious delivery of Ocean Export consignments to customers, as per customer orders and prescribed quality standards, using discretion and independent judgment to increase margin on each shipment.
Main Tasks:
- Utilize discretion and independent judgment to engage vendors and ship goods using efficient routes to maximize profit.
- Manage vendors, negotiate rates with shipping vendors, and analyze employee profit and loss on each shipment.
- Oversee desk operations to maximize profit and ensure compliance with regulations prescribed by USA customs & FMC.
- Ensure timely delivery to carrier's consolidators, packing depots, costing invoicing, and collection of correct charges.
- Keep records of discrepancies via Innovations and Incidents Management (IIM) and review reports to refine and improve services to customers.
- Manage allocated customers, trace orders, and communicate information affecting arrival or dispatch to customers or their agents.
- Deploy information about contracts with customers and supplies to all parties.
- Resolve export accounting issues, process sea freight debtors & creditors, and ensure financial and quality objectives are met.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or qualification preferred
- Knowledge of related computer applications
- Familiarity with basic freight forwarding procedures
- Global awareness of country geography
- Two years of previous related experience required
- Demonstrated customer service skills, superb administration skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational abilities
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, show resilience, and maintain calmness
- Customer-focused communication skills, initiative, drive, and team orientation
