What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Automation Technician position at Radius Living Rx?
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain pharmacy automation systems used for packaging, dispensing, and labeling medications (SynMed)
- Ensure accuracy and efficiency in automated medication preparation and loading processes
- Perform daily calibration, cleaning, and routine maintenance of automation equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues; escalate unresolved issues to vendors or IT as appropriate
- Collaborate with pharmacists and pharmacy staff to ensure timely completion of cycle fills and on-demand orders
- Monitor automation inventory levels; assist in restocking and managing medication canisters or cells
- Conduct quality checks on machine outputs to ensure compliance with pharmacy standards and regulations
- Train and support other pharmacy staff on proper use of automation systems and related workflows
- Participate in workflow process improvements related to automation and medication packaging
- Maintain accurate records of machine logs, maintenance activities, and performance metrics
- Adhere to safety protocols and HIPAA/privacy regulations in all areas of operation
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or supervising pharmacist.
Qualifications
- Education: high school or equivalent
- Active Minnesota Pharmacy Technician Registration.
- Previous experience in a pharmacy setting required. Experience in a Long Term Care (LTC) Pharmacy prefered.
- Hands-on experience with pharmacy automation systems (e.g., SynMed, TCGRx, Kirby Lester, ScriptPro, etc.) preferred.
- Experience with automated dispensing cabinets or robotic packaging systems preferred.
- Must be able to work the posted schedule.
- Not on the SAM or OIG Exclusions Lists.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Effective communication skills with pharmacists, technicians, and nursing staff.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and manage time well.
- Willingness to train others on equipment and act as a resource for automation workflows.
- Physical ability to lift, bend, and work on/around automation equipment as needed
- Familiarity with pharmacy operations including packaging, dispensing, and order entry workflows.
- Basic computer literacy, including the ability to navigate pharmacy software and automation interfaces.
- Comfortable working with vendors and internal teams to ensure automation is operating effectively.
- Understanding of cycle fill processes, barcode scanning, and inventory management preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain automation equipment, including escalation protocols preferred.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm
