Overview
Raintree Garden Center is known for our healthy plants and friendly service. We are seeking workers with a love of plants, a good attitude and a strong work ethic.. We would like someone who can share their home garden experience and love of plants with our customers. The job is seasonal March - June (some in July) The hours are flexible but will include some weekends. We sell most of our plants in May so we need people who can work well under pressure. We respect our employees and have a safe working environment with no yelling or swearing (exceptions if you drop something on your foot). The job would include plant care, greenhouse work and retail sales. The ideal candidate would work both the transplant crew and in the retail area but will hire for just retail/cashier.
Seniors who are experienced gardeners are encouraged to apply. We seek to have a knowledgeable and friendly staff. Your experience is valuable and we are willing to do shorter shifts and some physical accommodations to have you on our team.
Applicants must be available at least 3 days a week. We are very flexible on schedule but need a commitment to work 3 of the 4 weekends in May. Please include your availability with your resume.
Responsibilities
- Provide gardening advise and help customers find the plant or product that best meets their needs
- Ability to run a cash register and make change in fast paced environment
- Clean up, sweep and maintain an attractive environment for our customers
- Transplant, move, trim and water plants
- Climb on ladders to care for and move hanging plants
- Observe plants for signs of wilt or pests
- Carry 10-20# often - a plus if you can move 50# soil bags
Qualifications
- Love plants
- Retail cashier experience
- Garden/Plant knowledge
- Ability to work on your feet all day - walking and carrying
- Ability to learn quickly and follow directions
- Ability to work in hot humid conditions
- Ability to lift and carry 10-25# often a plus if can lift 50# occasionally
- A plus if you have greenhouse experience or extensive at home garden experience
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
